Team India’s gun all rounder Hardik Pandya had largely regained his form for the Indian national team. This was evident in his effective performance in the recent champions trophy as well. But in terms of domestic and IPL cricket, his form has been concerning.
Ever since Hardik took charge as the new captain of Mumbai Indians in the place of Rohit Sharma, things have been going South for the Mumbai franchise.
After failing miserably the previous year and finishing last on the table, Mumbai started this year also very poorly. They have lost both the opening games – one against Chennai Super Kings and the other against Gujarat Titans last night.
The issue has been that Mumbai hasn’t just been losing these games practically, but there is a serious problem with the team mentality and approach as well. The hunting mentality and champion mindset that is a hallmark of Mumbai over the last decade is completely missing now.
Especially since Hardik took as the captain last year, the killer instinct of the side appears to have completely gone away. Most of their games are very lethargic, and there is a clear lack of intent.
