For many years, Mumbai Indians has been one of the most consistent and dominating teams in the history of IPL. The kind of generational performance is this team put up between 2013-20 will go down as the greatest sporting achievement in IPL history. The fact that they won 5 titles in this period is an indication of the same.
However, this dominating side of Mumbai Indians is no longer back case as the team suffered the third consecutive defeat in the ongoing 2026 season of IPL.
Mumbai Indians came up against Royal Challengers Bengaluru team in every important game last night, and they were of no match to the defending champions.
Bengaluru scored a massive 240 runs in the first innings and Mumbai needed something miraculous to happen for them to win the game from here. But lack of adequate batting intent meant that Mumbai couldn’t come close to this target.
The worst thing for Mumbai here is that their own former players, Tim David and Krunal Pandya sunk them. David scored crucial runs towards the end of the innings while Krunal Pandya came up with an extremely economic spell.
But at the heart profit, it must be noted that Mumbai Indians historically known for losing the first few games before picking up the momentum later on.
This is going to be a particularly challenging this year, considering the strong performances that are being put up by other teams, hence it wouldn’t be straightforward for Mumbai to do remarkably good in the end.
