Hyd Man Dies of Cardiac Failure While Playing Badminton

On Tuesday evening, a 38-year-old man named Nargi Shyam Yadav collapsed while playing badminton at the Municipal Shuttle Indoor Stadium in Lalapet and died of cardiac failure. Despite the efforts of other players who tried CPR and other first aid, he was declared brought dead upon reaching the hospital.

The deceased, survived by his wife Mantha and eight-month-old daughter Vedasree, was cremated at the Malkajgiri Hindu Sashana Vataka on Wednesday afternoon. This incident has caused panic among sports and fitness enthusiasts as it comes after the recent deaths of a 30-year-old police constable in a gym and a 19-year-old at a wedding reception.

According to eyewitness Nethikar Praveen Kumar, Shyam Yadav was a healthy man who came to practice after work hours. He collapsed at around 7.20 pm. Fellow players attempted CPR and someone called a nearby government facility for a nurse, who confirmed his pulse before he was taken to a private hospital where he was declared dead.

Meekala Pawan, a friend of the deceased, stated that Shyam Yadav was a resident of Malkajgiri and signed up for the badminton facility a few months ago due to his love for sports. Although he was diagnosed with diabetes a year ago, he was otherwise healthy and had no history of COVID-19. Shyam’s brother Sunil Yadav described him as a friendly and helpful person who lived with his brothers in a joint family near Sai Ram Theatre. His wife is currently in a state of shock.

The security staff at the badminton facility, Bharath, announced that the indoor stadium would be closed for two days due to the incident, leaving regular players shocked.
