US: Visa Slot Booking Policy Changed To Prevent Fraud

USCIS announced a policy change for visa slot booking for students. The USCIS states that the policy change which will be implemented beginning November 27, 2023, is to prevent fraud and abuse of the appointment system.

All student visa applicants of F, M, and J must use their own passport information when creating a profile and scheduling their visa appointment.

Applicants who booked an appointment with profiles having incorrect passport numbers will not be accepted at the Visa Application Centers (VAC). Not only the appointments will be canceled but the visa fee will not returned.

Applicants whose passports were renewed recently should provide a photocopy or other evidence of the old passport number to proceed with their appointment.
